What a week in Qatar! It all started with an opportunity to represent Canada as one of the most promising tech startups during the opening night of Web Summit Qatar along with:
- Trevor Noah, actor, comedian & winner of Primetime Emmy Awards;
- CEO of Web Summit, Katherine Maher;
- Casey Lau, founder, angel investor, advisor, speaker, ecosystem builder, comic book creator & Co-host of Web Summit;
- Prime Minister & Minister for Foreign Affairs at Government of Qatar, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani;
- 32 other founders from countries around the world.
It continued with the main Pitch Competition where Transformers Academy were selected as 1 of 40 startups out of 1003 with the highest potential to disrupt future on the global scale with innovation we bring to the table. After watching pitches of the competing startups and their stages I am beyond proud of our team to make it these far so early. Big thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth or stopped me on the street to share your great feedback around our pitch! It meant a lot!
Wrapped up the day with visiting innovative and interesting booth from Google, Microsoft, Snap Inc., TikTok, Doris and listening to a great panel around "Pitch perfect: How to fix your pitch" with Michael Lints, Partner at Golden Gate Ventures, Maninder Dhaliwal P.Eng. ICD.D, Managing Partner at STARTUP STUDIO and Luca Cartechini, Co-founder & CEO at Shop Circle moderated by Sunil Sharma, managing director of Techstars Toronto and Co-Host of Collision Conf.
Side note, conferences as such are extremely draining and it was great to discover catering at all lounges from The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, L.L.C. & W Hotel Doha by my favorite chain Marriott Bonvoy.
Finished the week with exceptional talents from all over the world and incredible non-stop day at our booth with multiple meaningful conversations! 💥
What a pleasure it was to:
1) Meet dozens of people with whom our concept of "BORING Manuals" resonated deeply!
2) Reconnect with our fellow colleagues from Web Summit in Lisbon in a face of Mauro Carosso from BxT.ai and Alina Kabakova from Dreamlife Spain!
3) Witness performance of the PITCH competition winner at the Web Summit Qatar, incredible Mariam Nusrat, CEO at Breshna.io (by GRID)
4) Meet with new "neighbors" Ewan Weinberg, Diana Kassano & Katerina Ohra from @Engine in Latvia! Not only a great showcase but definitely an awesome idea! Won't be surprised to find myself among your clients in the nearest future.
5) Last but for sure not least, massive THANK YOU for the support during the entire conference to Medet Abenov, Igor Prykhodko & Almexoft team! We value all your time, advices and exceptional product that brings value to the companies around the world!
